A collaboration with London women in response to the Dublin film project Between Land and Water, exploring individual perspectives on place and belonging, resulting in a theatre and film installation presented as part of dis/placed festival at Shoreditch Town Hall, London.
As artists we aim to make theatre that moves from the real to the stage, for which a long-term engagement with a local group/community at the heart of the artistic process is a necessity. We develop unique and layered insights into the local changes and group cultures that exist within defined geographical areas.
With BLW+ we juxtaposed the long-term, locally developed, inter-media material made in Dublin with material made with South East Asian Muslim women at different stages of migration within the UK.
We shared Between Land and Water's first generational inter-media documentation, co-created in Dublin, with London artists and participants to connect to this first generation experience.
We focussed on the connections of memorised landscapes of origin places with present-day landscapes in written and body movement forms, reflecting on the potency of these landscapes for 3rd/4th generation women.
